New Winter Love

We love Winter at Edo and everything that comes with it. Hair Makeovers, dark lipstick, cozy weather and the best part....the decor!

We are obsessing over our new pastel hanging installation. Cute tassels and hanging puffy mobiles. Courtesy of Paper Fox LA:

Beautiful Balayage with Victoria

Meet Victoria!

She is the first featured client on our blog and we absolutely adore her...and her gorgeous color.

Victoria is the proud owner of Wallflower in the Mission District, a boutique specializing in vintage clothing and home decor. If you haven't been by this adorable little shop, you have to check it out! It's full of amazing finds all chosen by a gal with really great taste.

Victoria's colorist is Dae Starkweather, hair painting queen and balayage genius and her haircut is by Corinna Hernandez, long time Bumble and bumble hair guru.

She recently came in with grown out hair painting and wanted to be more blonde for Summer with shorter bangs. Her turn out...beautiful bright blonde ends and smooth face-framing layers! Plus, how great is this sexy blowout?

To learn more about Victoria, read her feature in San Francisco's Refinery 29.

To book an appointment for a full balayage, book online anytime..we would love to see you!

San Francisco's sleek ponytails

As many of you know, we just adore our in-house lead educator Corinna Hernandez. This morning she taught the Edo staff high-fashion, backstage ponytails inspired by Bottega Veneta's at 2014 Fashion Week, Milan edition.

We first got started on her beautiful model Vicky. Vicky has perfect hair for this, not too thick and little to no waves. Corinna's first step was prepping her hair with Bumble and bumble's Prep Spray then saturating it with Thickening Spray, blow-drying hair from roots to end making sure to keep the hair close to the head and free of any kinks. After half a can of Does it All and many brush strokes, she secured the ponytail with a hair bungee, not a rubber band. Finishing off with Invisible Oil...the hair is now sleek but not wet looking.

Here are some photos of the clean and luminous ponytail from today's advanced styling class:

Elegant, polished and sophisticated. The sleek pony doesn't have to only grace the runway.

Quote from hair hero Guido Paulo,

“The hair for Bottega Veneta is clean and sharp, which is a bit of a departure from previous seasons,” said Guido. “In the past, the hairstyles were easier, softer and more natural. A sort of 90′s minimalism inspired me, so the hair is simple with blunt lines. Hair extensions were used to create a very long fake ponytail that resembles the same thickness and consistency of a horse’s tail. There is certainly an intended element of artificiality to the hair,” he explained.

Bold Spring colors

This week San Francisco got our annual Spring heat wave and the Floridian in me came out. I'm loving it! Tank tops, skirts, sandals and the best part?! Bold make-up.

Warm weather is the perfect excuse to ditch the black liner and heavy mascara to make room for something that won't melt off your face in an hour...... bright lipstick!

I'm talking hot pinks, fuchsias and corals with that perfect finish. Matte, glossy (not too shiny) and paired with a bright, highlighted eye.

Even better? I found the cutest lip stain that us girls at Edo love. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in matte or balm stain. Stays all day and gives you the bold lip you need in this 90 degree weather.

SF is whisked away . . . by flawless balayage highlights

Balayage. Ombre. Hair Painting...whatever you want to call it. The look of 'sunkissed' highlights and natural looking color is oh-so popular and one of our many specialties at Edo Salon.

There's nothing wrong with the traditional foil highlighting and methods of bleaching (I won't even comment on frosted 'tipping caps') but the grow out is never as seamless as when hair is hand-painted and whisked by bleach.

Highlights look more natural and multi-dimensional with a transition that is smooth as butta'. Great for beachy blondes, brunettes and creative colors.

For highlighted hair that's past perfection...schedule anytime from our website at www.edosalon.com.
