All that glitters is gold

Excited for what 2014 brings as I am so grateful as to what 2013 has given me. Although I am sad to see a great year go, I look forward to the many more great times I will have in 2014!

So tonight calls for celebration!  Celebration for change, celebration for good memories and celebration for another new year.

Gold, glitter, sparklers and love. Time to put on the party suit and bring out the hot rollers.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year! A safe night and as much bubbly as you can handle.

xoxo Tiffany

Nicole is back!

Nicole is back!

And we're thrilled!

After a 6 month vacation in Europe, Nicole Hagen is back at Edo and excited to do some hair.

Along with a few kitchen haircuts on the road, Nicole made her way through Europe on her bike and only a backpack traveling through France, Holland and Germany ----just to name a few. She cooked over an open fire almost every night while camping along the way and even scaled the Fjords in Norway!!

Needless to say she is back in the States and really happy to start services once again. On top of her return she will be attending Bumble and Bumble's University in New York next month to hone in on her craft at razor cutting.

To book an appointment, schedule online or call Edo at 415.861.0131

New Artist/Lower Haight Fall 2013 Art Walk

The Lower Haight Art Walk. Always busy and always festive.

While we enjoyed wondering down Haight Street listening to live music and popping into our neighbors shops for new artwork, the energy in our salon was rising as the night went on getting louder and crazier.

Here are some photos of the lovely folks (and a cute dog) that came to our opening.

This month features paintings and zines by artist Jeffrey Cheung  and  Tiny Splendor Press & Gallery.

Artwork and zines for sale in Edo until November.

Let Nature Take It's Course...

As March draws to a close, we are finding ways to be inspired by all the natural elements of Spring.

Beachy waves inspired Jayne.......she gave Donna a beachy shag hairstyle.

Chri freshened up her client's spring bob hair cut making her blue eyes pop!

Did anyone else check out that gorgeous full moon we had earlier this week? Looks like Jayne took note from the beauty of nature and gave her client an adorable red rounded bob!

Lastly, Jai seems to be moved by spring Easter egg colors with this fun purple color on his client!

Let the beauty of nature inspire you.

XOXO,
Edo

Morphologies...a collaborative art show

We are absolutely loving the new art installation this month!
Edo's art curator did a wonderful job getting creative and inspired by the pastels of late winter/early spring and selected some amazing artists to showcase their work in our gallery.

Julia Lucey delivers some beautiful collage prints inspired by her backcountry ventures over her summertime and spring breaks.

Here are some pieces from the second artist, Vanesa Gringold. Her work is light and airy but still vibrant and colorful.

She also made hanging-mobiles in our front window!

And last but not least we have an incredible installation on our back wall by Ana Labastida. Reflective, 3D moths!

Artwork will be up until mid-April and the opening reception will be during the Lower Haight Art Walk on Saturday March 2nd from 7pm-10pm. Come have drink, listen to music and enjoy artwork by these amazing ladies!

xoxo Edo

Let your imagination run wild

A new month brings us another new artist!

We are so happy to present artwork from a fun and wonderfully creative client, Betsy Roszkowiak!

Betsy's paintings showcase a childlike innocence including brightly colored trees, long swirly hair and anything your little mind day dreams of. Her subjects are imaginative, and dream-like while her DIY solar system installation remains jovial and innocent as it fills our main salon window.

The theme carried throughout her work is from a perspective of life through a little girls eyes. Her exhibition is titled 'Joanna. The Imaginary Friend'.

"Joanna is my friend, but the adults they cannot see her.
She told me the sky was green and the grass was blue.
The adults said those were the biggest lies that had ever been told
But I don’t care what they say, I know Joanna speaks true.

By day Joanna lives in my pocket and hides in the trees at night
She told me that her favorite color is a sparkling drop of dew
And that sometimes Neptune can be the same size as the moon
So the question is this, what does your Joanna say to you?"

Betsy not only crafted a solar system but she also created a 'handelier' (a chandelier made of multi-colored stuffed hands) and turned our back wall into a larger than life replica of Joanna's face.

Betsy's art will be on display and for sale until the first week of August!

my favorite redhead is now crooning

In every life of a hairstylist we eventually pick out our favorite redhead of all time. For Edo, hands down, the choice is super model Karen Elson. We really first noticed her when we became familiar with Bumble and Bumble. It was about 1991 and Edo had yet to get to New York at start working with them. There was all this buzz about a new haircut called the "botched bob" that this haunting beauty was sporting. The original Bumble hair genius Raymond took out his barber straight razor and literally whacked this fawn of a woman's hair at the chin. Overnight, she and the haircut became a sensation. In 1998 I was lucky enough to actually sneak into one of Raymond's crazy classes before he went awol and vanished without a trace from the hair world.

On tuesday when I heard the beauty would be crooning her little dark heart out at Cafe Du Nord here in S.F. I simply could not miss a chance to see the red locks glow in person. It turns out the lady can actually carry a tune. Ethereal and romantic with a country twang at it's best. Not a surprise since she married Jack White. And, a smart move sice we can't stay young forever. All in all, it was a big room of fashion eye candy and got me thinking about red again.

The best way to know what shade of red is for you is one simple rule, if you have pale and clear skin go with the cooler red. A hint of auburn or chestnut. A subtle cinnamon glow. A peachy strawberry blond.

With freckles and golden skin, do a golden based warmer red. A coppery honey. Muted tangerine with hints of golden sparkles.

We think every woman should try a perfectly tailored shade of red at least once in her life.... it is all about skin tone and balance.
