JAYNE approaches hairstyling as an art form. She loves getting to know someone to craft a beautiful new shape or color that makes them look and feel their best. JAYNE is inspired to help her clients, often creative women, enhance their features and find their own expressive hairstyle.

New York and LA style brought to San Francisco
A master of organic, freehand haircutting and creative color, JAYNEspecializes in designing cuts so the hair sits naturally and is a breeze to replicate. She learned sophisticated techniques from the founders of Bumble and bumble in New York, and has taken every styling class offered at Bumble University since its inception in 2000. She also trained with Vidal Sassoon, Nick Arrojo, Paul Mitchell and Ernest Takai, a Japanese artist who taught her to understand the texture of straight, coarse hair.

JAYNE is drawn to vintage-inspired styles, such as sexy French looks a la Brigitte Bardot and bohemian Americana from the 1960s and 70s. And having grown up in the '80s and worn every hair color in the rainbow, she has a special understanding of colors that complement one another and brighten skin tones.

Organic color for people and the planet
To preserve the health of the hair and the environment, JAYNE searched for gentle, effective color products, and she found them! Now a certified organic hair colorist, she uses the finest toxic-free bleach, organic hair color and ammonia-free neon and bright colors.

Passionate about fun pastels and elegant creative hair color, JAYNE was thrilled that the eco-friendly products work well with her artistic brush techniques. “I can paint a seamless wash of color, striking painted tips or hues melded together to create beautiful contrast,” she says. “And in every color from platinum to pearly silver and baby pink, plus all the intense shades. I’m excited that funky hair and high fashion styles can still be organic.”

From the early 90s when JAYNE launched her career, her work has evolved through constant advanced trainings and artistic inspiration. Ideas for hair color and styles come from her travels, recently in the brilliant hues of India, street fashions of Japan and hand-woven textiles in Guatemala.

Visiting art galleries, hunting for treasure at flea markets, yoga, meditation, fashion and studying alternative health practices are among her pleasures.

JAYNE is cofounder of Edo and a creative director of the salon and gallery. She helped create the salon’s signature organic style of cutting and coloring and teaches the techniques to Edo’s stylists.
